Velocity x Myer goes in-store: you can now spend Velocity Points at the checkout

Virgin x Myer Collab with Points! PC: Virgin Australia

What’s new

Velocity Frequent Flyer has expanded its Myer partnership so you can redeem points in-store at every Myer across Australia (and still online at myer.com.au). It’s a quick, app-based checkout: generate a QR code for the amount you want to spend and present it at the register. Minimum in-store redemption is 971 points per transaction; online minimum is 3,000 points.

How it works (in-store)

  1. Open the Velocity app → Redeem → Shop with Points → Myer (In-store).

  2. Set a $ amount and the app creates a single-use QR code (valid for 4 hours).

  3. At checkout, staff scan the code and you confirm how many points to apply.

  4. Points are deducted instantly; any unused QR value simply isn’t taken.
Tip: You can combine Points + Pay with a card if you don’t want to cover the full amount in points.

How it works (online at Myer)

At checkout, select “Velocity Points,” sign in, then move the slider to pay partly or fully with points.

Value check (should you use points for shopping?)

Using points at retail is all about flexibility and cash-flow relief. Typical in-store pricing suggests roughly ~0.5c per point. You’ll generally extract more value (often 2–8c per point) from premium flight redemptions, but retail redemptions shine when:

  • you’re not flying soon,

  • you’re topping up a gift or a big-ticket household buy, or

  • you want to stretch the budget without out-of-pocket spend.

Good to know

  • MYER one still earns: If you’re a MYER one member, you’ll continue to earn MYER one Credits on eligible purchases even when paying with Velocity Points-nice double dip.

  • Returns: Change-of-mind returns issue a Myer Returns Card for the points portion. If you’re legally entitled to a refund, the points are reinstated to your Velocity account.

  • Limits: In-store you can redeem between 971 and 971,874 points per transaction; you can’t exceed the purchase total. Gift cards are excluded.

Milesmates take

For everyday spenders, this is a handy “points as currency” upgrade—great for seasonal sales, birthdays and quick wins. Points-maximisers should still steer the bulk of balances toward high-value flight redemptions, then skim small retail wins when it fits the budget.

Quick start

  • Update the Velocity app.

  • Generate an in-store QR code before you queue.

  • Scan, confirm, done.

Bottom line
Velocity just made points more liquid. Use it when you need flexibility; save for flights when you’re chasing outsized value.
